Starting a new routine can be challenging, and even daunting at times! Change is never easy, but there are ways to make your goals achievable for the long term rather than giving up a few days in. If you are looking to set your next goal and stick with it, try the below tips and then share your progress with us!

  1. Make it Realistic

One of the biggest mistakes people make when setting goals is changing too much all at once. Your goals should fit into your current routine, or only change one aspect of your life at a time. For example, if you are always running late in the morning before work then setting a goal to workout at 5:30am every day may not work well for you. Instead set a goal to move for 30 minutes so that you can better fit it into your current schedule.

  2. Fail to Plan and Plan to Fail

After you make your goal, your next step is to make your plan! By making a plan you are telling yourself “I am making time for what is important to me.” Look ahead on your calendar and try to plan 3-5 days in advance. It will get you excited to see that you are working towards your goal each day.

  3. Track Your Progress

Tracking your progress is one of the most important steps in goal setting! Without a way to see how far you’ve come you won’t be motivated to keep going. BONUS TIP: tracking your progress doesn’t have to come from physical changes. Don’t forget to notice how you feel, how much better your mood is, or how much more energy you have throughout the day.

  4. Get an Accountability Krewe

Having people to help hold you accountable, like the Move Ya Brass Krewe, will help to motivate you on days when you may want to skip. Tell your friends and family what your goals are so that they can help check-in on you and celebrate your wins. It is often easy to give into your own excuses, but it is a lot harder to say your excuses out loud to a friend.

  5. Celebrate Your Successes

No win is too small! Celebrate every milestone on the way to your goal because you deserve it. Think about what motivates you and get excited about working towards treating yourself. Plus. don’t forget to share your successes with your accountability krewe - they will want to celebrate the best version of YOU too!

Take a few minutes to sit down and set your next goals. Whether they are big or small, try using these tips as motivation to help you reach them! The MYB Krewe is always here to cheer you on, lift you up, and celebrate your wins. It may be a challenging road ahead but it will be SO WORTH IT when you arrive.
